Christine is bringing a wealth of soccer playing, coaching, and life experience to the LA Bulls family.
Currently, Christine Johnson is in her first season as an assistant coach to the CSUN Women's Soccer team after joining the program in March 2021.
Prior to CSUN, Johnson completed a five-year stint as the head coach of Division III Manchester University's women's soccer team from 2016-21. Over her time with the Spartans, her student-athletes earned six all-conference awards and 19 academic all-conference honors. A total of seven players earned the academic all-conference award in her last full year with the team in 2019-20. In addition to her coaching duties, Johnson served on the President's Diversity and Inclusion Council at the university and was an instructor in exercise science and athletic training.
Prior to Manchester, Johnson was a U-14 head coach and director of college education for Crown City United Soccer Club in San Marino, Calif. from 2012-15. While working with youth soccer players on the pitch, Johnson also designed and hosted information presentations for college-bound student-athletes and their families.
Johnson previously served as an assistant women's soccer coach and lead recruiter at Arizona State from 2009-10 where she worked with the team's defenders. She also spent three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with Fresno State from 2006-09. Johnson assumed the interim head coaching role for the Bulldogs in 2009 during the program's coaching change that year.
On the pitch, Johnson was a standout at the University of Florida from 2001-04. She helped the Gators advance to the NCAA Tournament three times, highlighted by a Final Four appearance in 2001 and an Elite Eight berth in 2003. Florida also won the SEC championship in 2001 and the conference tournament crown twice during her collegiate career. As a freshman, Johnson was the third-leading scorer on the team and was named to the SoccerBuzz.com Freshman All-American Third Team after tallying 23 points. Over her career, she scored 20 goals and registered 54 points.
After her collegiate career, Johnson played professionally for the California Storm and the Football Club Bay Area Pride in 2009.
Johnson prepped at Woodbridge High School in Irvine, Calif. She competed on the 1998 U.S. National U-16 team and was a member of the U-18 National Team pool in 2000.
Johnson graduated from the University of Florida in 2004 with a degree in sociology.
